2019 elections: Be unbiased — NYSC DG tells corps members

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier-General Suleiman Kazaure, has urged the corps members who would be selected as ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2019 elections to be unbiased.

Kazaure made the call yesterday during his official visit to batch C, stream 1 orientation camp in Bayelsa State.

He also asked the corps members to use the opportunity provided by the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme to acquire skills that would equip them to be employers of labour and not seekers of jobs after their service year.

Represented  by the Director, Corps Welfare and Inspectorate, Sanusi Abdul-Rasheed, he also told  the corps members to avoid unnecessary journeys.

He said: “Those of you that will be selected  by INEC as ad-hoc staff during  the 2019 general elections must be unbiased to produce  free, fair and credible results, the nation is counting on you.”

“On completion of your orientation course, you will be posted to your places of primary assignment, you must take your Community Development Service (CDS) seriously and initiate viable projects that will benefit the rural communities.”

The Coordinator of NYSC in the state, Loto Bolade, said corps members deployed to the state were actively participating in over 13 different skills.
