Movie Review: King Of Boys

It is not common to watch a Nollywood movie and not have a problem with any part of it.

There's always something wrong. Maybe it's the casting or the directing or perhaps the soundtrack but we Nigerians are used to mediocre Nollywood movies.

All that changed the moment Kemi Adetiba released her King Of Boys movie.

King Of Boys is a modern-day crime drama that sees Sola Sobowale act as a crime kingpin who battles problems within her crime organization as one of her subordinates named Makanaki (played by Reminisce) seeks to take her throne.

At the same time, she is fighting political foes while being investigated for fraud by a fictitious version of the EFCC.

This is probably the first Nollywood movie to have gotten casting right. The likes of Sola Sobowale, Jide Kosoko, Toni Tones, Adesua Wellington, Reminisce and ill bliss make for a thrilling movie experience.

For most of the cast, this is most likely the most challenging role they've taken and under the guidance of Kemi Adetiba, they all gave brilliant performances.

The most impressive performances were from Sola Sobowale, Toni Tones and Reminisce.

This movie has received much critical acclaim from filmmakers and movie lovers.

King of boys could very well put an end to the romantic-comedy movies and the unfunny comedies that Nollywood has been dishing out for years.

Kemi Adetiba is establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with in the movie business. She is responsible for directing two of Nollywood's biggest movies The Wedding Party and King Of Boys.

The King of Boys movie is already breaking records.

If you haven't seen this movie, stop playing yourself and go and do the needful.
