The state chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River, Dr Matthew Achigbe, alongside his wife on Saturday died in a ghastly motor accident.
APC chieftain in the State, Joseph Odok PhD Esq, confirmed the incident in a statement Saturday evening.
"I regret to announce the passing away of the APC CRS Chairman Dr. Matthew Achigbe. He died on his way to a party function in a gashly accident along Calabar/Obubra Road. Rest in Peace my leader and chairman, we lost you when your services were needed most. I am terribly hurt and in tears", the statement read.
The accident occurred on Afikpo Road in Ebonyi State while they were attending a party meeting in Obubra LGA of the state.
Achigbe, one of the two contending chairmen of the party in the state, was believed to be the authentic chairman of the party having been recognised by the APC national secretariat, INEC and security agencies.
