Aquaman Has Already Made More Money Than Any Film In The DC Extended Universe

As the past few weeks have indicated, DC's Aquaman flick was poised to shatter all figures in it run and has most recently earned the distinction of being the DC Extended Universe's highest-grossing film of all time, currently sitting on a figure of $887 million and counting in ticket sales around the world, beating out DCEU films Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Wonder Woman.

Currently overseas sales account for 75 percent of the movie's gross, however, its domestic pull alone still sits behind the other DCEU films. Directed by James Wan, the film has been an instant favorite across audiences, particularly for its stunning visual effects. Most recently, Wan epxressed his displeasure with what he deems to be a snub from the Academy in regard to the Oscars VFX shortlist. Referring to the VFX supervisor, Kelvin Mcllwain and his team as the "unsung heroes of this film," Wan added, "The fact that your VFX peers in the Academy aren't recognizing or appreciating what we/you've all contributed to the film and cinema is a fucking disgrace."

Nevertheless, Aquaman is slated to become the very first billion-dollar film in the Extended Universe. Next up, DC will be looking to prove itself with April's Shazam! outing.
