Less than 2 months to polls, APC loses over 500 members to PDP in Edo state
- Over 500 members of the APC in the Esan area of Edo state on Monday, December 31, defected to the PDP
- This came as a lawmaker in the area, Sergius Oseasochie Ogun, commissioned a water project to alleviate the suffering of indigenes of the community
- The development is coming when it is barely two months to the general elections
Emu community in Esan southeast local government area of Edo state was filled with jubilation on Monday, December 31, as Honourable Sergius Oseasochie Ogun, representing Esan southeast and Esan northeast at the House of Representatives, commissioned a water project, The Independent reports.
At the commissioning ceremony, not less than 500 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ogun constructed the water borehole project to address the constant challenge of water scarcity in the community.
During the commissioning the project, Ogun said that it was one of his campaign promises to the community.

The lawmaker urged members of the community to put the facility into good use; he also advised them to protect the facility from criminals and vandals.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, receiving the decampees, presented flags to all candidates contesting for seats in the House of Representatives and state Assembly in the 2019 general polls.
The defectors claim that they were in Rano local government area to witness the formal presentation of flags to Senator Kabiru Gaya and other candidates from Kano South by Governor Ganduje, during the final grand rally for all candidates from the zone.
