PDP Reveals Only Way Atiku Can Lose Against Buhari

The Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to accept defeat in the forthcoming election if he loses, just like Jonathan did in 2015 when he lost.

The Anambra State Chairman, Atiku/Obi campaign council and former governorship candidate of the party in the state, Mr. Oseloka Obaze said the party was confident of victory for its presidential candidate and his running mate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr Peter Obi respectively.

Obaze who spoke with reporters in Awka on Thursday said the only hindrance to PDP taking power this year would be if the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, Buhari refuses to accept defeat.

“We need a government that must set Nigeria back on the right path. The present government has demonstrated that it does not have the capacity to move Nigeria forward, and that is why we are confident that Nigerians will vote them out.

“This government has not fulfilled any of the promises it made to Nigeria when it was seeking power in 2015. Dollar is still much higher than the Naira, Petrol is still high, local government autonomy is still not met, and also the electoral reforms bill have not been done.

“That is why PDP will win this election. We are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to do what Jonathan did in 2015 when he loses. He must accept defeat and congratulate the winner. He must remember that one good act of leadership is accepting victory and loss when they come.”

Obaze while speaking on the capacity of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to hold a free and fair election said the election would be a litmus test for the commission.

He said, We, however, challenge INEC to meet the litmus test of the act that set it up by conducting a free and fair election. If they meet these measures, it would have advanced our pact. We also hope that the elections would not be shifted unduly.

“Not as if we are entertaining any fear, but there have been election postponements in the past, but we do not advise so. But where there are compelling reasons for a postponement, the government should be able to announce so clearly. We had all the time to prepare for this election, and I believe that everyone is prepared,” Obaze said.
