Top Five Richest Premier League Clubs after Newcastle Takeover

Newcastle United are the richest team in the Premier League following the takeover by the Saudi Arabia Consortium. The buying over of the Magpies ended Mike Ashley's reign at the club after 14 years.

Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund owns 80 per cent of the club's share while Amanda Staveley and the Reuben Brothers each owning 10 per cent.

We will take a look at the top five Premier League Clubs with the richest owners.

(1) Newcastle United - Saudi Public Investment Fund (£320bn)

The take over over the club on Thursday, October 7th, 2021 has pushed the Magpies up the chart. The club is been chaired by Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman. He is the second most important person after the King and he serves as the country's Minister of Defence as well as deputy prime minister.

(2) Manchester City - Sheikh Mansour ( £22.9bn)

Manchester City's Mansour served as the United Arab Emirates' deputy prime minister. He is the chairman of International Petroleum Investment Company and also has an investment in Virgin Galactic.

He purchased City in 2008 and has transformed the club for the better, his investment has also attracted world-class managers and players.

(3) Chelsea - Roman Abramovic (9.6bn)

The Russian billionaire bought Chelsea in 2003 for £140million  from Ken Bates. The purchase turned around the club attracting some of the best players in Europe at that time. He was also able to hire Jose Mourinho from Porto.

Chelsea has won lots of trophies since the Russian took over, which includes five league titles and two UEFA Champions League.

(4) Arsenal - Stan Kroenke ( £6.35bn)

Arsenal Football Club has gone down the ladder since the American bought the majority of the club's shares in 2011. The supporters are hoping a new owner takes over the club so it can return to its glory days. He is also the owner of NFL side LA Rams and NBA franchise Denver Nuggets.

(5) Aston Villa - Nassef Sawiris ( £5.3bn)

The Egyptian took over the club former owner Tony Xia in July 2018, his first achievement at the club was its promotion into the Premier League within 12 months in charge of the club.

He owns 55 per cent of the club's share and also has investments in construction, engineering and building companies.
