Barcelona star Gerard Pique becomes president of Catalan club FC Andorra

- Gerard Pique's company Kosmos has bought Spanish fifth division club FC Andorra

- The Barcelona defender will now become the president of the football club

- Pique has made 17 La Liga appearances this season for the Spanish champions

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is now expected to become the president of Spanish fifth tier club FC Andorra after his company Kosmos bought the Catalan side.

Kosmos company is a media and sports investment group founded by Spanish football star Gerard Pique in 2017.

According to the report by Marca, their first investment this year was when they took over the Davis Cup tennis competition.

And now they have purchased the First Regional Catalan Division side FC Andorra.

Their offer was said to have been approved by FC Andorra's club members on Saturday, December 29, as 206 voted in favor with just one vote against the company.

"The General Assembly of FC Andorra has unanimously approved the transmission of its assets in favor of an Andorran company jointly managed by different investors, including Kosmos.

"Kosmos welcomes the decision made by the club. The company adds this project to its global portfolio linked to sports, media and entertainment ventures,'' a statement read according to Marca.

FC Andorra was only founded in 1942 and during the 1980’s and 1990’s played in the Spanish third tier, but now, they now reside two divisions lower.

The 31-year-old was part of the Spanish national team that won the FIFA World Cup for the first time in South Africa in 2010.

He scored five goals in 102 appearances during his nine year reign for La Roja - winning the 2012 UEFA European Championship.
