Scooper WCW: Simisola, The Goofy Songstress
Simi, as she is fondly called is one entertainer that doesn’t take herself too seriously. I mean look at her unconventional fashion sense. Her red carpet appearance has been nothing but mildly confusing and hilarous, I recall Nigerians begging her to quit while at it.
At her performance in 2018 Big Brother Show, inspite of her electrifying performance, we were sidetracked by Simi’s roll of fat on her belly, Nigerians were quick to call her out on that bloop. I guess she probably thought, ‘na big belle I get, I no kill person’, LOL. She soon took to calling herself fat belle Simi.
Does it get to her, I wonder? It is bound to get to her, all of this bullying but it appears it isn’t. Even if it does, its most likely just a dent on her sunshine. I know this because we don’t see her making drastic change in her lifestyle and trying to please Nigerians that can never be pleased.
However her music pleases us, the music that has been louder than the voices of discontent that has risen against her. Her singing voice although childish holds a maturity beyond her years. Simi knows her art and she is one with it. That much is undeniable. Although little rough edges sometimes rear in her performances here and there.
It is worthy of note that Simisola’s career came into spotlight in 2014 after she released "Tiff", a song which was nominated in two categories at The Headies 2015 and further brought her to mainstream recognition.
Apart from singing and songwriting, Simi is also a sound engineer. She is credited to have mixed and mastered Adekunle Gold's album which was released in July 2016.Her music style is basically hinged in the rhythm and blues, soul and hip-hop genre of music.
Scooper celebrates Little miss Sunshine with her hearty laugh, never lose your charm!
