4 Artists That Don Jazzy Almost Signed To His Record Label
It can be said that Don Jazzy definitely has an eye for talent seeing as he has always worked with exceptional artists over the years but there are some artists that he would have loved to work with but he couldn't get.
This issue was brought up on the Loose Talk Podcast episode that had the Mavins boss as a guest.
He was asked about artists he almost signed to either Mo'hits or Mavins and he made mention of them.
Falz
"I always wanted to sign Falz. He reminded me of Sauce Kid with the way he rapped in a comedy way" he said.
He also compared Falz comedy-rap style to how Sauce Kid made his hit "E don dey mad" song. He said he wanted Falz to come on board and join Mavins but there was an issue with Falz management team and it couldn't work out.
Don Jazzy recalls how Falz didn't want to be associated with comedy as a rapper back then as he wanted to be a hardcore lyricist.
What could have made Falz change his mind on that?
Teni
Unfortunately when Don Jazzy was interested in signing Teni the entertainer, she was in America and he was in Nigeria so it couldn't work out but he believes that it all turned out the way it was supposed to be.
He says that maybe Teni wouldn't have blown up as much as she has now if she was under him. He has noticed that Dr. Dolor has given Teni creative freedom to sing how she likes but he on the other hand, would have tried to control her sound and that wouldn't have helped her at all.
