Remember getting in trouble when you were young for wasting your food? Well, you are all grown up now and you can smear your food all over your face and call it skin care.
We all have an item around the house that can be used in more ways than one, and food definitely has a way of serving a multipurpose function.
Food facials may be considered the best facials because they contain all natural ingredients that are gentle on your skin. Plus they are easy to do for a perfect mid-day facial.
So how about you try something new and easy with FOOD !!
Here are 4 food facials for soft, smooth skin
1. HONEY
During those forceful dry weathers like harmattan give yourself a nice warm honey facial. It can serve a facial mask or scrub.
Warm the honey in a small pot, apply a thin layer to your face and rinse off after 15 minutes. The honey acts as an antioxidant, antibacterial, cleanser and moisturizer it really helps control icky breakouts.
For the best results rinse your face with cool water.
2. STRAWBERRIES
Who love strawberries? Strawberries are delicious in yoghurts and a healthy snack, but it is also beneficial for working as a great facial.
Not only are strawberries rich in vitamin C and a great anti-ageing agent their mildly rough texture make them excellent natural exfoliators to scrub away dead skin cells.
Mash 3 strawberries in a bowl. Add 1 tablespoonful honey in the bowl and mix together. Rub the mixture evenly on your face with your hands or beauty brush. Relax and leave the mask on for about 15 – 20 minutes. Then rinse off with warm water.
FUN FACT: Strawberries are grown in Plateau State in Northan Nigeria.
3. BANANAS
If you need something to help with your oily skin or to fight wrinkles try smearing a banana over your face.
They are a great source of vitamin C and E as well as a good moisturizer for dry skin. They exfoliate and give new life to a dull complexion.

Mush it up (add a little honey if you’d like) and rub it on your face. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse. You will Love it.
4. EGG
Nothing better than a portentous meal on the face. If you need something to give you a firm skin, the eggs are your best bet.
You can use the whole egg, or you can just use an egg white. The whole egg will offer a little more moisturizing, and the egg white alone will firm your skin and tighten pores.
Rub whisked eggs over a clean face, let it dry, and you have a simple, easy egg-white facial mask. Rinse out with clean water.
5. OATMEAL
Perfect for oily and acne-prone skin, oatmeal makes an ideal food facial mask.
It aids against inflammation and also absorbs the oil in your skin to reveal oil-free skin. Be sure to use plain oats for this facial and not the instant oatmeal.
Squeeze 1/2 of a lemon in a bowl. Add 1/2 cup of dry oats (ground or as is) and 1 tablespoonful of honey and mix thoroughly. Apply the mixture to your face. Leave on for 15 minutes then rinse with cool water.
6. BAKING SODA

One of our all-time favourites, baking soda is the cheapest, most effective microdermabrasion ever. Start with a freshly washed face, and lightly scrub it with a paste of baking soda and distilled water for about 10 minutes.
