Samsung has just announced its third 5G phone for Australia. It's part of its mid-range 'A' series, which means it's the cheapest that the manufacturer has released so far. But because its 5G capable, it still costs a pretty penny.
The Australian government has announced its intentions to auction off 2.4GHz of spectrum in the 26GHz band to telcos in early 2021. This will be the first time that Aussies will have access to mmWave spectrum, which is significantly faster than the current 3.6GHz band.
The Galaxy A90 5G will become the second Samsung phone in Australia to be free of a Exynos processor. The first to be blessed in this way was the Galaxy Fold.
Instead, the A90 5G will have a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855, which we have mostly seen in flagship Android phones this year.
It will also have a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display, 128GB of storage, a 4,500mAH battery with fast charge and either 6GB or 8GB RAM.
When it comes to the cameras we're looking at a triple rear array with 48MP main, 5MP depth and 8MP ultra wide lenses. On the front there is a 32MP selfie cam.
The phone will have an RRP of $1,049, which is quite steep for a mid-range phone. Comparatively, the Galaxy A70 (which is the next unit down in the series) is only $649.
