Despite the ‘ban’ placed on Twitter by the Nigerian government seems to be ‘fighting’ back to grant access to its users in Nigeria.
Yesterday, the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, in a statement signed in Abuja, announced the suspension of Twitter in Nigeria.
Twitter in a new statement this Saturday afternoon, disclosed that they’re deeply concerned by the blocking of its app in Nigeria.
Appealing to its Nigerian users to remain calm, Twitter assured that they’re working to restore access for all those in Nigeria who rely on the microblogging app to communicate and connect with the world.
“We are deeply concerned by the blocking of Twitter in Nigeria. Access to the free and #OpenInternet is an essential human right in modern society.
We will work to restore access for all those in Nigeria who rely on Twitter to communicate and connect with the world,” the statement read.
Nigerians who are still able to access the app, in reaction to the new Twitter update, showered encomium on the CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey and the entire Twitter Management for standing with them in this trying time.
